An Interview With The Wellness Warrior: Jess Ainscough

I am so excited to have my high school buddy Jess Ainscough- The Wellness Warrior on the blog today! This girl is one inspirational women and played a huge part in nudging me to start following my passion and start living the life I had been dreaming about.
Jess’s story is truly incredible, inspirational and empowering. She was diagnosed with a rare cancer (epitheliod sarcoma) at the age of 22 years old and given a bleak and grim diagnoses, amputate your arm (which may get the cancer, though it may not) or risk it spreading. This amazing lady decided at this time to take her future into her own hands and with the love and support of her beautiful family started researching alternative options.

This is when Jess found the Gerson Therapy and since finding this amazing therapy and with the help of some world renowned practitioners, as they say “the rest is history”. Jess has managed to get her body to a state that it now heals itself, she lives a very clean, healthy, organic vegan lifestyle and her life today is so very different from the one she was living just a mere 4 years ago. Jess has started a movement, and I suggest that if you haven’t already checked out her site that you do it now! Jess is an advocate for holistic health and is inspiring people all over the world with or without cancer to live a healthier life mind, body and spirit.

Check out what Jess and I spoke about when we caught up recently:

D. What does perfect health mean to you?

J. To me, perfect health means treating my body with the utmost kindness and respect every day. It means doing my best with what I have to honour and nourish my body and mind.

D. During your Gerson journey how did you bring yourself from a place of fear to love?

J. I guess I just realised that fear wasn’t going to help me. Yes, there were moments when I was afraid, but I have always been pretty good at training my mind to switch back into love. I’m a big fan of affirmations, and two that really helped me are:

I love and approve of myself.

I have a perfectly healthy body and mind.

D. What is your key self care tip?

J. Love yourself. Be your own best friend. Speak only kind words to yourself. When self love is the foundation, everything else is a cake walk.

D. What is the most important thing you have learnt on your journey so far?

J. That transforming your life is not as painful and difficult as we think. When it comes time to let go of something that is not serving us, we can only see what we are losing. We can never see what we are gaining. In the beginning, all I could see is that I had to give up alcohol, drugs and Oporto burgers. I couldn’t see that I would gain so much more.

D. What is your favourite food you have discovered since starting to live a wholefood lifestyle?

J. Ooh this is a tough one. I have discovered a whole new world of amazing food, so I can only narrow it down to three. They would be quinoa (because it is so versatile, yummy, and easy to prepare), coconut oil (because it is healthy fat), and cacao (because it is healthy chocolate).

D. What do you think is the most important step to take when embarking on your journey to living a healthy, happy life?

J. I would have to say self love again. This is the most important step.

D. Where do you find inspiration for your blog ‘The Wellness Warrior’ and projects?

J. I find inspiration everywhere – from my own life, from conversations with my friends, from observations of modern life, and from the internet.

D. When you are not blogging, coaching, public speaking or helping make the world a better place in some shape or form you are…

J. Lying in the sun, walking on the beach, or lying in bed with a cup of tea, some kind of healthy dessert, peppermint oil in the oil diffuser, my beautiful pug beside me watching something like Gossip Girl or Revenge.

D. In your opinion why do you think the general population is getting sicker and unhappier every year and what would you like to see change?

J. We need to get back in alignment with our natural way of existing. We are feeding our bodies with food that is not actually food, we spend our days caught up in superficial drama, and we keep our minds entertained with fear-based illusions. All of this is causing imbalance and manifesting in our bodies as illness. Illness and disease is just our body’s way of communicating with us, and it is telling us that we need to make changes.

D. In a perfect world…

J. There would be no factory farming.

D. What’s next for The Wellness Warrior Jess Ainscough?
